Meet Katie Borek, the director of Aligned Minds Counseling and Therapy in located in the Strathearn neighborhood of Edmonton, Alberta.

With her Masters of Social Work, Clinical Specialization and 10 years of experience as a social worker, Katie has dedicated her career to helping people of all ages overcome their mental health challenges and live their best lives.
​
As someone with a soft spot for trauma survivors, Katie finds great joy in helping her clients process the traumatic memories that have been holding them back. Katie has been trained in several specialized trauma treatments including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). She also is devoted to working with both teens and adults who have ADHD and/or Autism, providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to manage their symptoms and love themselves just as they are.
Throughout her career, Katie has worked in a variety of settings including rural communities, elementary schools, Indigenous communities, family court, and correction facilities.. Her expertise has been recognized by Yahoo!Life and PsychCentral, where she has provided practical advice on relationships and mental health.

Known for her professionalism and sense of humor, Katie takes great care in tending to the plants in the clinic. Regularly bringing in new plant babies to create a warm and welcoming space.
